Chapter Ten notes:
  • General preferances can changes the overal look of your images.
  • File handling controls how photoshops saves your files.
  • Displays&Cursors controls options that govern th display of pixels on monitors.
  • Memory and Image Cache controls options corrosponding ot the general memory and speed that is allotted to images.
  • A digital image is made up of grid like pixels that each hav a distinct color.
  • Working space defines how photoshop interprets the color numbrs in a file and gives meaning to the numbers
  • A color profiles tells monitors and printers how colors should be displayed
  • there are many different color profils: RGB Appl RGB Gray Scale
  • You should evaluate focus exposure and color settings
  • always work on a backup copy
  • adjustment layers allow you to edit your image without permanently changing it.
  • the eyedropper allows you to select and preview different colors in your picture
  • histogram givs you an overview of the toanl values in your picture
  • You can locate and change the darkest and brightest points in your picture using levels.
  • The curve is broken down into shadows midtones and highlights
  • Color balance is similar to color variation
  • you can correct with curves
  • you can change the tones and look of a picture with photo filters
  • cloning helps erase imperfections and unwanted ...stuff
  • the healing tool is an amazing thingy for fixing stuff.

  • there are two ways to get images from camer. cablles and flash drives
  • USB ports and firewire ports are used for direct import
  • Cardreaders can be wireless (bluetooth) or they can be connected through USB ports
  • There are many different versions of camera software that usually come with cameras
  • Canon zoombrowser is a windows only software that comes with all canon cameras. Zoombrowser can also be used to convert RAW files
  • NIKON view is a windows and macintosh software that lets you download and manage image files captured with Nikon cameras.
  • Olympus Camedia Master for windows and macintosh also lets you download and convert images.
  • Sigma photo pro alows you to convert the raw files captured by the sigma SD9
  • iPhoto is apples computer software enables you to download and oranize images.
  • With iPhoto you can make projects and share pictures
  • IMAGESTORE from TTl software provides a powerful workflow for downloading imades form multiple media cards
  • Adobe camera RAW is a program that is used to edit raw images before opening Adobe photoshop. You can edit histogram white balance exposure tones and tint.
  • PHOTOSHOPS file browser allows you to view thumbnails, review, delete and rate them.
